At Pars Omni our goal is simple: to get you to speak and understand Spanish at a high level as quickly and enjoyably as possible. We do this by focusing on language acquisition, which is the key to a faster, more natural approach to speaking and internalizing a foreign language.

Language Acquisition

Traditionally, foreign language courses in most high schools, colleges and private language schools have approached instruction through the study of the structure of the language (the grammar) and by rote memorization of vocabulary lists and perhaps whole dialogues. Unfortunately, if you are interested in speaking a new language with ease and fluidity, this is not the most effective way to achieve communicative competency.

In a Pars Omni® class, you will find yourself engaged in a highly interactive workshop in Spanish. You are immediately part of a friendly group engaging in spontaneous conversation in Spanish. Yet the ease of learning, and the enjoyable experiences that accompany this rapid learning, are not accidental. The Pars Omni® instructor carefully applies the principles of effective suggestion to accelerate the language acquisition process.

Instruction is organized within a context of art, music, drama and literature, creating opportunities for you to make emotional connections to the new material. Your close active attention, as well as your incidental passive attention, is employed, resulting in faster learning.

The First Lesson

In the first lesson, approximately 800 lexical units plus the basic grammar of the language are presented in an engrossing and non-threatening, highly stimulating format. According to the commonly accepted norms in our society, this amount of information cannot be assimilated and be available for recall in such a short time. In fact, this volume of information exceeds the conscious mind’s processing capacity for a single lesson.

However, a Pars Omni® program is designed to teach simultaneously to the conscious and to the subconscious (paraconscious) mind. This all encompassing approach is similar to the way we learned our first language in that all levels of the mind, not just the conscious focus, participate in the learning process. By using the powerful suggestive elements of music, art, drama and play - and making them relevant to the teaching material - greater proportions of the mind can be gainfully engaged in language acquisition.

Greater Level of Confidence

Because the class is enjoyable and conducted at a high emotional tone, there is a high level of participation. This is in contrast to most foreign language learning classes, where embarrassment, anxiety and reticence can be significant barriers to learning. In a Pars Omni® program, students find, even during the first class session, that they feel relaxed and engaged. Normally shy students find themselves communicating in their new language with growing confidence after only a few sessions.

At the end of the Foundation Program, students can comfortably discuss a full range of every day topics—their profession, a trip they’ve recently taken, selecting and discussing food, making reservations and handling arrangements in a hotel, finding their way in an unfamiliar place, making introductions, sharing important events in life, carrying on conversations in Spanish about most every-day subjects and even about many professional and specialized subjects at a basic level, within the framework of vocabulary and grammar of the course. The Proficiency course and the Mastery course are designed to help you reach greater levels of fluency.
